Fan of sour beer? Into hard ciders? Dig live music and good food? Waterloo is the place for you.

Local Iowa brewery, SingleSpeed Brewing is hosting Feelin’ Sour, Iowa’s only sour beer & cider festival, in Waterloo, IA this summer! On July 13 from 4-8pm, gather all your 21+ craft beer loving friends around & take a stroll through this lovely festival. There will be over 30 breweries & cideries present, showcasing their most sour and sweet creations.

This isn’t SingleSpeed’s first sour rodeo; this year’s festival is their second annual sour celebration. SingleSpeed is well known for their iconic collection of sour beers, not just in the Cedar Valley but across the globe. While in the planning process for last year’s festival, they decided to try their hand at an international brewery competition. They ended up taking home the bronze medal in the “Leipzig-Style Gose or Contemporary Gose” category at the World Beer Cup with one of their beers from the “Shift into Sour” series, Ring Around the Gose. They are not only the only brewery in Iowa to receive this honor, but the only American brewery to be recognized in this category! So when they say they’re serious about sours, you’d better believe it.

This year’s festival will be filled with more than just beverage tasting. Hungry? Try a delicious black bean burger or fresh arepas from one the Cedar Valley’s most beloved local food truck, La Calle. Along with fresh local food, there will be live music courtesy of local Iowa band, The Copper Smoke Trials. Also be sure to spend some time playing classic yard games, like giant Jenga, can jam, & bags. Feelin’ a little too sour after all that sour beer & cider? Duck into the Experience Waterloo IPA lounge for a change in beer and scenery.

The festival will be held in the Riverloop Expo Plaza in downtown Waterloo. Service animals are welcome but the city and the festival ask that you please leave other animals (including kiddos under 21!) at home. And if you are attending but plan to be a designated driver, be sure to let the festival know because you can get reduced ticket prices and access to snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

After the official festival ends, use your wristband to get into the after-party at SingleSpeed Brewing’s Waterloo location. There will be special guest beers on tap, good tunes, and good vibes all night long!

And the fun doesn’t end with the festival or even the after-party; join SingleSpeed at their Waterloo location again for their “Hangover Party” the next day at 10am! Enjoy ‘beer-mimosas’, breakfast food, and more live music.

General admission is $40, VIP tickets are $50, & designated driver price is only $15. And your ticket gets you more than just into the fest; you’ll get a commemorative First Annual Feelin’ Sour Tasting Glass and the chance to enjoy a 2oz sample of each beer poured. You can snag tickets here. Plus, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Iowa Brewer’s Guild. And if you’re interested in helping with set up, tear down, and during the festival, reach out to Ana Hanisch for more information about how to sign up as a volunteer.
