Five years ago, when the idea of Funky Junk-a-loo was floated around through committees of Main Street Waterloo it got some of those weird looks like “What are these people talking about.” Funky Junk, what is that even and who wants Junk! The trend of home items with the rustic and repurposed feel was just coming out. Now fast forward 5 years, Main Street Waterloo has one of the largest and fastest growing junking, vintage and repurposed marketplaces around, averaging over 4000 attendees each year.
The 2019 Funky Junk-a-loo is slated to follow suit with the success of the previous shows, with over 50 different vendors, workshops, raffles, and so much more.
Hosted in the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center and taking over almost every inch of useable space, the show really has something for everyone. From an owl made out of rebar, a flower the size of a grown man, or even a bathtub turned into a chair, it truly is a place for the imagination and creativity to flow. Many vendors have been on this journey with Main Street from the beginning and have grown their wares each year, plus each year there are a few new vendors that are sure to delight.
You’re invited to join the fun on Saturday, March 23rd from 10am – 4pm and Sunday, March 24th from 10am - 3 pm in downtown Waterloo at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. General admission tickets can be purchased in advance at the Main Street office at 212 E 4th St, online, or at the door the day of the event. VIP Early bird tickets are also available for advance purchase exclusively online. VIP tickets get you surprise perks the day of the show and early access on Saturday starting at 9am. This is a great way to visit some of the vendors and purchase that one-of-a-kind item before anyone else.
