Ready for an extravagant Independence Day? Luckily, the Greater Cedar Valley has plenty of celebrations to choose from!
IndependenceJuly 3rd is Military Appreciation Night, bring your military ID & get a free drink! The Riverwalk Park celebration begins at 4pm; bring two non-perishable food items & get a free pork burger for dinner. Music starts at 4:30pm and goes all night. Some projected highlights for the night include a poker walk, a youth volleyball tournament, the Wapsi Warrior Challenge, a bags tournament, and of course lots of live music.
ReinbeckJoin Reinbeck for a Community Appreciation Dinner at 5pm, followed by the Movie in the Park, Little Rascals, at 8:45pm and the Fireman’s Dance at 9pm with music provided by Milk and Honey.
Shell RockGet your celebration started early with food, beer, and live music downtown beginning at 5pm. There will also be yard games and a splash zone beginning at 6pm followed by a DJ from 9 to midnight.
Shell Rock's 4th of July Parade
Independence Kick things off on the 4th with a parade at 9 am followed by festivities in the Park starting at 10:45am. Kids activities kickoff then, followed by a coed sand volleyball tournament and a performance by the Independence Community Band. At 2pm there will be a veteran’s memorial dedication at the courthouse, and at 4pm the live music begins. Catch the Heath Allen Band and the Cedar Wapsi Brothers followed by their closer, The Pork Tornados. At 10pm, watch a fantastic display of fireworks over the Wapsipinicon River.
ReinbeckBright and early celebrations include both a pickleball tournament and a fishing derby at 8am. Little Mr and Miss Reinbeck will be crowned at 10am along with a pick up 7 on 7 football tournament in Elmwood Park. The Kiddie Parade is at 12:30pm followed by the grand parade at 1:30pm. Egg toss, petting zoo, crazy train rides, mini-golf, bounce houses, face painting and more begin at 3pm. Music in the park starts at 7pm and fireworks at 10pm. After the fireworks, enjoy a group lantern launch by the Lions at the shelter house.
Shell RockStart your 4th at 10 am with a parade through downtown. Noon is when all the fun begins with cow chip bingo and a craft & vendor fair in the Boyd building. Also, check out the splash zone and yard games while you grab festival food & an ice-cold beer. Or if you’d rather have something freshly grilled, the Bremer County Cattlemen will be grilling hotdogs, hamburgers, and ribeye sandwiches at Shell Rock Senior Living’s west lawn from 9am to 2pm. Register for the bags tournament at noon with the tournament beginning at 12:30pm then stay for laser tag at 3 pm. Stick around for the Skunk River Band from 7 to midnight.
WaterlooSpend the 4th at the ballpark! It’s the Waterloo Bucks' fifth annual "Independence Day Jersey Auction." The Bucks will wear special Independence Day jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game with all proceeds going to Honor Flight. It is also Military Heroes Night at the Bucks; the first 500 fans will receive a Military Heroes Card set that recognizes military members throughout the Cedar Valley. At 5:45pm, the members appearing in this special card set will be honored on the field. At 6:35pm the Bucks will take on the Rochester Honkers. After the game, stick around to watch the post-game fireworks extravaganza.
B2wins at Mayor's Independence Day Celebration at RiverLoop Amphitheatre
Shell RockThe fun starts at noon Friday with inflatables, yard games, food vendors and beer tent. Try your luck at bingo or laser tag at 3 and stick around for the wild-west themed kiddie parade at 6pm. The Rush Cleveland Trio Band starts at 7pm; beer and food will be available all evening. And, be sure to catch a fireworks display behind the school at 10pm.
Saturday boasts a DJ and karaoke at noon along with a continuation of the previous day’s kids activities, food vendors and beer tent. Catch a horseshoe tournament at 1pm and come and go bingo at 3pm. If fireworks were rained out on Friday, you can catch them Saturday night!
WaterlooThe Mayor's Independence Day Celebration in Waterloo will host music from the wcfsymphony at 6pm & B2Wins at 8pm. Enjoy food and beverage vendors, live music and fireworks over the river at 10pm.
