Give a Waterloo Experience this Season!

posted on Friday, November 30, 2018

This holiday season, why not give the gift of a Waterloo experience? Memories might just be the best gift of all. Wrap up a small gift or coupon that represents your planned experience and place it in a stocking or under the tree. There are so many ideas for a day or evening spent creating memories with family and friends right here in Waterloo.

Sports Fans

  • For the hockey fans on your list, wrap up a dollar to use for Chuck-a-Puck and tickets to an upcoming Waterloo Black Hawks game. Another idea would be lessons at Young Arena or skate rental and an afternoon skate.
  • Is there a baseball or wrestling fan on your list? The Waterloo Bucks offers many fan novelties at a reasonable price. How about a promise of some afternoon batting practice in the backyard, along with Bucks tickets? Or a trip to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum and lunch at one of the many nearby restaurants.
  • A pass to swim at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex; or a season pass or brochure for Lost Island Waterpark with a scheduled day of water fun, Go-Karts, or Adventure Golf would be something to look forward to next summer. Wrap up a brochure from Palmer’s Family Fun for a day of play for all ages, including batting cages, laser tag, driving range, and more.

Outdoor Adventurers

  • Why not give the gift of some camping gear and a handmade coupon for a night of camping at George Wyth State Park, Waterloo/Lost Island KOA, or one of the other area parks next spring or summer?
  • Give your niece or nephew a coupon for a sleepover and a family bicycle ride on our wonderful Cedar Valley Trail system.

The Gift that Gives Back

  • Last, but certainly not least, working together at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank or one of the many area non-profits would make for a meaningful holiday experience. Sign up to work together at one of the many Waterloo events for a shared family time.
  • Or check out the Volunteer Center of the Cedar Valley website for more volunteer opportunities you can do with your family.

These ideas are easily accessible and not only make wonderful memories for you and your loved ones but also help our local businesses and organizations thrive!
