Hello, this is Avery and Abbey Buzza writing this. On this week’s episode of Travel Waterloo, we let our dad have the week off. We wanted to show you how we're planning to celebrate Father’s Day, and give you some fun Waterloo ideas for you and your dad too. You should bring your dad to visit on Father’s Day and do what we did.
Shopping for Dad. The clothes at Palace Clothiers are really nice! Mr. Steve, the owner, had some great ideas for our dad, and will for yours also. Our mom said that people joke about getting ties for their dad on Father’s Day, so we looked at some (and tried some on ourselves) that had fun designs. Our favorite was the red one with elephants you see in the video. The belts we looked at are awesome! Mr. Steve said they fit better than regular belts and they come in bright colors. They even have UNI Panther and Iowa Hawkeye designs.
Dining with Dad. Dads love to eat, right? We had lunch at The Other Place (OP). We love their pizza and dad does too! Other places we thought about going were The Lone Wolf, where they have great hamburgers and sweet potato fries. Dad said their shakes are great, too. Another place that is fun for dads is Screaming Eagle in downtown Waterloo. Or, you could go to Beck’s Taproom Grill if he wants to serve himself some beer.
Golfing with Dad. We learned that Waterloo is great for golfing. Dad isn’t a good golfer, but he should take some lessons from Mr. Nate. We thought it would be fun to drive the golf carts too. We didn’t get to, but it sounds like Dad might take us golfing soon. Maybe even on Sunday.
Fun with Dad. Our family loves Palmer’s Family Fun. The jumping pillow is so much fun. We thought it was funny that Mom and Dad got on there with us and jumped around. Dad is really good at go-karts and always tries to win. They do have go-karts that are for younger kids, so if you’re as tall as me (Avery) you can drive on your own and it is super fun. We liked the mini-golf, and our dad really enjoys going to the batting cage. He didn’t have his bat or batting gloves with him when we were there or you would have probably seen him hitting softballs too.
One other fun thing you can do for Father's Day is go to the Waterloo Bucks game. They play at 3:35pm and it's Daddy-Daughter Date Day. After the game, you can play catch in the outfield. There’s even a cupcake party with princesses! And, if you ride your bike to the game, you could win a prize.
We hope you and your dad have a great Father’s Day in Waterloo!
